Carnegie League - Longford Town vs Wexford Youths Football betting preview

Maybe it's still early but i expect this odds to fall down a bit in next two days...

Longford was Eircom league team until last season when they were deducted six points which made them relegate. Their only aim this season was coming back in top league, but with Shels, another relagated team - Waterford and always dangerous Dundalk it was maybe a bit too ambitious. Especially as they lost few of the important players and their team is now on First Division level (but in upper half). I expect them to finish 4th or 5th, and to take most of the points at home from now until the end. Since break they had two games, in home game they outplayed favourized Shelbourne and deserved 2:0 win. In next one they fell to in-form Monaghan 0:1 away. I think that is short and correct description of their season. Strong home games, weak away ones. They are among best home teams, and most efficient ones to and everything except their win here would be surprise.

Their opponents, Wexford, are currently last placed, with only Athlone and Kildare close to them (certainly the worst three teams in league). They have lost ten out of sixteen games, and away they have been absolutely bad, W1-D0-L7 4:13, winning against Monaghan and scoring half of their away goals in that match. Now they are already five games without a point, losing both games after the break, to Monaghan at home (1:2) and Athlone away (1:3). This weren't strong teams (although Monaghan is in form currently) and i rate it as a bad start of 2nd part of season. But, they also had League Cup clash in mid week, facing Eircom opposition UCD. They've surprisingly won 2:1 and qualified for Semi-Finals. It isn't so surprising if you know that UCD played with mixed team and has to be concentrated on their relegation fight in league while Wexford filled their best team, with one change in first eleven. That could prove to be their mistake if they want to make result here as their players won't be fit enough to make significant result here, starting midfielder Marty Kelly picked up a knock in League Cup game and probably won't feature.

Longford is stronger side here, playing at home and with full week to prepare for the match. Wexford players played mid-week match which is always a problem for weaker, semi-professional, teams in First Division and that should also make an impact. I didn't expected odds like this, and i go with medium stake only because i'm taking this early and five games losing streak of Wexford has to end somewhere. I think it won't happen in Longford
